I don't care for the way this book is organized. I have only glanced at "What to Expect...", but the two books seem very similar, with small sections (paragraph-length or sometimes longer) in each chapter that are usually not in any obviously logical order, which makes it difficult to reference. The information is also pretty basic. I would say this reads more like tiny magazine articles than any comprehensive and useful guide to rely on in your pregnancy. I haven't found any other guide that really excites me, but the closest I've found is the "Mayo Clinic's Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy". That book gives all the same information you find in this plus more in a more logical format.

You should check this out from the library before deciding to buy!

I can not express how much we have enjoyed having the Ergo. I had registered for a Bjorn before my baby was born and a dear mommy friend contacted me and said she'd like to get us a carrier...but an Ergo, not the Bjorn. She said she'd get whatever we really wanted, but that she felt the Ergo was better. I figured she knew best and she did!

We have used the Ergo inside and outside of the house. When our baby boy was young, the Ergo (with infant insert) would instantly calm his down if he was fussy. It allowed me to cook, clean, and move about the house hands free. My husband and I both can wear it comfortably.

The Ergo has been INVALUABLE on our adventures. We travel quite a bit and the Ergo has allowed our son to comfortably go wherever we do. Plus, it's great for naps in airports & airplanes. Our Ergo has been to the US, Wales, England, and Egypt. Our son go so much attention in the Ergo while riding a camel (with me) at the Great Pyramids!

We live in England now and all of the mums want to know where they can get one! I don't know what I'd do without the Ergo! I can not recommend it highly enough.

Restrict your caloric intake and you'll lose weight, at least until your metabolism adjusts. Because this diet is probably more restrictive than most others that are popular with men, such as All Pro, Abs, and Belly Off, it can help you lose that last ten to fifteen pounds, if you've stopped losing weight with the diet you're currently following and want to see if you can get your body fat into the high single digits. To stick with it takes a level of commitment and resolve that most people don't really have, but your motivation to continue may increase as you see progress and learn to tolerate the changes that accompany selective fasting. I recommend it for eight to twelve weeks as an interesting change of pace, but I don't recommend it as a permanent lifestyle change.

I purchased this book as well as the "Pregnancy Bible" book. This book only gives week by week plus little information afterwards. I highly recommend the "Pregnancy Bible" book. It gives week by week along with a picture of what your baby looks like that week. Also it gives you so much information about your pregnancy i.e. what to expect, questions to ask etc. If your looking for a 2nd reference book this could be it but if you only want one book I highly suggest splurging and buying the "Pregnancy Bible" by Joanne Stone & Keith Eddleman. Best wishes on your pregnancy.

'The Warrior Diet: Switch on Your Biological Powerhouse For High Energy, Explosive Strength, and a Leaner, Harder Body' is a different king of "dieting" book (I find it hard to even use the word diet here), instead it's a book that teaches you a different way to eat and live your life. The weight-loss industry makes billions a year and is one of the biggest money-makers in the world. There's all sorts of promises of how to lose weight, but the simple way to lost weight is to eat less, eat smarter, and exercise (it really IS that simple folks). What this book does it focus on how past cultures (warrior) used to eat in the past and see why they were lean and mean for the most part. What you learn from this book is that people in the past (men & women) were so busy during the day that they didn't have TIME (they REALLY didn't have time) to eat and eat and eat. The women hunted for the food while the women did the household chores and raised the young children. At the end of the day the families ate a large meal together, and POOF! look they didn't gain much weight and were leaner all together.

It's an interesting point of view but to be honest I think it's unrealistic for most people. Yes these are all truths but this isn't how society is any more in industrial countries. We don't have to hunt for food all day long and we are surrounded by food all day long that it's hard to resist (unrealistic?). Eating a large meal right before dinner might give you energy to have a better sex life but then it sits in your gut all night while you sleep. For the true warrior of the past this was fine because you weren't going to eat much for another 24 hours and had to live live like a python getting large meals when possible, providing plenty of nutrients for all the physical labor the following day.

I think this book is positive and is great from a historical perspective, but for everyday people I don't think it's very realistic or feasible. Times have changed and the "Warrior Diet" simply isn't the ways things are in the world for educated people. Having said all that, I don't think the book is bad, I just think it's another angle to help some people (key word: SOME) lose the pounds but for most it probably won't be that effective.

Try if you must but I feel that other books will provide better long term results than the ones listed here.

This is my fourth child and I was bored with my old pregnancy books. This book contains good information, but the writing style seemed strange. The author seems to have some "issues" that I found distracting. When talking about ultrasounds she says that "you might see your baby. . .frowning as if to say, 'You again?'" I guess she just seems very negative about pregnancy in general.

And the pictures are nice, but there are only 7 in the whole book and they are the same ones I have seen in magazines. Overall I prefer "Your Pregnancy Week by Week."

We use these to go horse back riding with my twins. My friend carries one and i carry the other. We help each other out getting them on are backs then get on and go. I have the older style so i need to upgrade to a newer version that the head coverage area may be bigger. But these work and i never feel unsafe riding cause they are locked down. My kids go for hours out on the trail at 2 years of age thats a great thing cause they sleep for there naps.

I just wonder where the science is in all this. For instance, the claim that avocado is a vegetable that is "anti-estrogen" seems kind of "out there", especially if not backed up by any real science. Does the author have a PhD in a science that is directly related to nutrition or how the body processes food ? Or is he writing somewhat "outside" his field ? (I don't know).

I think it funny that the author says we should emulate the ancient Greeks and Romans, who ate only one meal (late) a day. And yet, we modern Americans live into our 70s, and the Greeks and Romans died in their 30s. I also would not want to emulate Sparta (the Spartans practiced infanticide on infants deemed too weak), etc.

The notion that breads and carbs are bad is made by many diets. And yet, it has been the staple food for instance, in Italy and France for about 1,000 years. And the Italians are not fat. What makes Americans fat is not estrogen (in my view), but the fact that we eat between meals, we eat far too much sugar, and we go back for seconds. This is all written about in the "No S Diet", by the way, which I am now doing. And that diet seems far more in line with my life than fasting most of the time, and then gorging like a Spartan at night.

This book is definitely lacking in the resources and research department.
Only two doula organizations listed?
What about
Birth Arts International- [...]
ALACE- [,...]
CBI- [..]

Additionally:
The biased and blatantly wrong paragraph about homebirth is untrue and contradicting the research that says it is safe. Did the author read the studies?

Asking permission to have a doula, that is what is wrong with birth in hospitals. Women are paying for a service, birth is theirs, they do not need to ask permission to have a doula present. Your body, your baby, your choice. You are the expert of your body. Birth is about empowering women.

Waterbirth? Waterbirth is a safe option for women having babies, yet it is not mentioned at all.

Midwifery- Midwifery is completely left out as an option women have, Nurse Midwives, Certified Practical Midwives, Licensed Midwives. Midwives have the best outcomes overall, so it is interesting that this was completely left out of this "evidence" based text.

Midwives have the best outcomes overall, so it is interesting that this was completely left out of this “evidence” based text.
